Welcome to Where the Lilacs Bloom.
Meet Melyssa!
Hi there! Welcome to Where the Lilacs Bloom. My name is Melyssa. Wife to one very handsome man and mommy to three little girls. Let me start off by saying that I am so glad you are here. I hope you find a piece of community and support here that you’ve been craving.
Can I clue you in on why I have created this blog? My introduction into motherhood has been a lonely one. I got married at 20 and had my first baby at 21 when the majority of my peers were finishing college, graduating, and starting their careers. Here I was cradling a fussy yet adorable baby while my husband worked long hours and my family lived 1000 miles away. I desired to have someone to raise my babies with and to swap recipes with. But I didn’t, and maybe you don’t either. You know what friend? I’m here. I’m in the thick of this with you. So maybe on the days where you’re hiding in the pantry eating chocolate that your toddler doesn’t know exists (please tell me that’s not just me), you can feel less alone.
I have created Where the Lilacs Bloom to invite women into a community where they feel validated in their roles as moms, wives, and homemakers. I believe it is some of the most important work that can be done in our culture today. And I don’t want you to ever feel you don’t have a friend. (Cue the Toy Story music)
A bit more about me!
I am 27 years old.
I grew up in San Diego and LOVE the beach but have never surfed.
My husband is a die hard Patriots football fan, but I prefer Padres baseball.
My faith in Jesus Christ is a foundation of who I am as a person and a mom.
We live in northern Colorado, and I dream of snow free winters but wouldn’t trade the summers here for anything.
And lastly, I love a cup of coffee with a dose of extra cream and sugar.
